Warming Our Hearts for What’s Ahead

Every year, there’s that moment when winter tries to make a comeback. Just when we’ve started to settle into longer days and a hint of warmth, the cold sneaks back in one last time. It’s brief—but noticeable.
And honestly, our hearts can feel the same way.
Not every season of life feels light and full of energy. Sometimes we find ourselves a little stuck—disconnected, worn down, or just going through the motions. It’s not always obvious when it happens, either. It can build slowly, until one day you realize you don’t quite feel like yourself anymore.
I see it often in conversations at Salem Methodist Church, and I’ve felt it in my own life too.
The good news? Those seasons don’t last forever.
God doesn’t leave us in that place. Even when we feel distant, He is still moving—gently inviting us back, softening the edges, reminding us of who we are and why we’re here. Growth doesn’t always come in big, dramatic moments. More often, it shows up quietly—through a small shift in perspective, a renewed sense of peace, or the courage to take one step forward.
If you’ve been feeling a little “off,” consider this your invitation to check in with your heart.
What’s been weighing on you lately?
What have you been carrying that you were never meant to hold alone?
What might it look like to release even a small piece of that?
You don’t have to overhaul everything overnight. Sometimes renewal starts with something as simple as being honest—with yourself and with God.
As the seasons change around us, there’s an opportunity to let something shift within us too. To move forward a little lighter. A little more open. A little more grounded in faith.
Wherever you find yourself today, know this—you’re not behind, and you’re not alone. God is still at work in your life, even in the quiet, even in the in-between.
And new life has a way of showing up right on time.
