Seeing the Creator in Creation
by Pastor Krista Price
Week of March 2, 2026
Recently, while visiting the zoo, I overheard a conversation that stuck with me. A woman was talking with a young child while they looked at the monkeys. She casually told the little girl that this is where people came from. It was a simple moment, but it reminded me how often certain ideas about our origins are passed along without much thought—especially the idea that humanity is simply the result of evolution.
Moments like that make me reflect on how differently we see the world when we believe in God as our Creator.
Not long after that, I noticed something else—a tiny hummingbird hovering at a feeder nearby. If you’ve ever watched one up close, you know how remarkable they are. Their wings move so quickly they blur, their bodies are incredibly delicate, and yet they are perfectly designed to do exactly what they were created to do.
When I see something like that, it’s hard not to pause in wonder.
Creation itself speaks of a Creator.
The beauty, intricacy, and order we see in the natural world point to intentional design. Scripture begins with that truth in the very first words of the Bible: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” The book of Genesis lays the foundation for how we understand our relationship with God and with the world around us.
Believing that God created us is more than just a statement about the beginning of time. It reminds us that our lives have purpose. We are not accidents or random outcomes of cosmic events. We are part of something God intentionally made and deeply cares about.
Genesis gives us the starting point for understanding who God is, who we are, and why our faith matters. When we hold onto that truth, it shapes how we share our faith with others and how we see the beauty of God’s handiwork in everyday life.
So the next time you notice something small and wonderful—a hummingbird, a flower, a sunset—take a moment to let it remind you of the Creator behind it all.
I hope you’re having a wonderful week, and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
God bless.
