Growing Good Fruit in Every Season

While spending time in sunny Arizona, I found myself surrounded by something simple but meaningful—fruit trees. My cousin grows several varieties: mandarin oranges, lemons, grapefruits, and traditional orange trees. Standing near those trees, looking at branches heavy with bright, ripe fruit, I was reminded of an important truth about our spiritual lives.

Healthy trees produce good fruit.

It sounds simple, but it’s a powerful image for how our relationship with God works. When a tree is cared for—pruned, watered, and given the right environment—it thrives. The same is true for us as followers of Christ. When we are rooted in God’s will and spending time with Him, our lives begin to show the “fruit of the Spirit.”

Scripture describes this fruit as love, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control, and more. These aren’t qualities we force or manufacture on our own. They grow naturally when our hearts are aligned with Jesus and we are nurturing that relationship day by day.

As we move closer to Easter, it’s a meaningful time to reflect on that connection. The season invites us to slow down and refocus—spending time in scripture, prayer, and quiet moments with God. Whether you’re traveling, working, or going about your normal routines, those small moments of intentional time with Jesus make a difference.

Just like a fruit tree needs care to flourish, our spiritual lives need attention if we want to grow.

My prayer for you is that you take time this season to nurture your faith so that the fruit in your life continues to grow—bringing blessing not only to you, but to the people around you.

May your days be filled with God’s peace and goodness as we journey toward Easter together. God bless you.
