Stand Firm in Your Faith

It can be easy to go through life assuming we’ll never be put in a position where our faith is truly tested.
We settle into our routines. We go to work, care for our families, make plans and move through our days. Faith can become another part of that routine—something familiar and comfortable.
But what happens when following Jesus requires more from us?
As I’ve been preparing for Sunday’s message, I’ve spent time with three of the Minor Prophets near the end of the Old Testament. Their words were spoken to people living in very different circumstances than ours, yet their message still challenges us today.
Don’t become apathetic. Don’t simply go through the motions. Stand firm.
That message feels especially important when we look at the uncertainty and division we see in our country and throughout the world. It can be tempting to respond with fear, to stay quiet or simply assume difficult circumstances will never reach us.
But as disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to something more.
We are called to live our faith boldly.
That doesn’t mean life will always be easy. It doesn’t mean we will always be understood or accepted. There may be moments when standing for what we believe is uncomfortable or even frightening.
Our prayer should be that, in those moments, we will not be overcome by fear or apathy.
Instead, may we have the courage to say with confidence:
Jesus Christ is Lord.
Our circumstances may change. The world around us may change. We may face challenges we never expected. But the foundation of our faith remains the same.
Scripture reminds us that one day, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
So today, ask yourself: Am I simply going through the motions, or am I living my faith with courage?
May we encourage one another to stand firm, remain faithful and never give up.
God bless.
