Slowing Down to Hear God’s Voice
by Pastor Krista Price
Week of January 05, 2026
As we move into the second week of our journey through Scripture, there’s an invitation before us—not to rush ahead, but to settle in. This season isn’t about checking off chapters or keeping pace with a schedule; it’s about creating space to truly listen.
As we approach the middle chapters of the Gospel (chapters 14–26), these passages invite us deeper into the life and teachings of Jesus. They aren’t meant to be skimmed. They ask something more of us: attention, reflection, and presence. Whether you’re perfectly on track with the reading plan or feel a little behind, that’s okay. The goal isn’t speed—it’s connection.
This time of year can feel heavy. The holidays have passed, routines restart, and the world seems eager to move quickly again. But faith often grows best when we resist that pull and choose to slow down. When we sit with Scripture, even on dreary days or when our hearts feel tired, something begins to shift. God meets us in that stillness.
If you find yourself tempted to hurry through your time with God, consider this an encouragement to pause instead. Read a little more slowly. Sit with a phrase that stands out. Let Jesus speak into your day before everything else does.
God is at work—in you, in us, and in this community. The more room we make for Him, the more we’ll begin to notice what He’s doing. May this week be marked not by busyness, but by presence, peace, and a renewed sense of walking closely with Christ.
