Living Life with Purpose Every Day

Life has a way of reminding us just how precious each day truly is.

Recently, I attended a celebration of life for a friend whose story has stayed with me. Years ago, he received a diagnosis that could have easily caused him to give up hope. Instead, he and his family made a different choice. Rather than allowing the diagnosis to define him, they chose to focus on living each day with purpose.

And that's exactly what he did.

He continued serving others through his work, creating homes where families would build memories together. He spent meaningful time with those he loved, traveled, laughed, made memories, and, above all, sought to honor Jesus in the way he lived. Like every one of us, he wasn't perfect. He made mistakes. But his life pointed people toward faith, hope, and love.

Leaving his service, I found myself asking a simple but challenging question:

What kind of legacy am I building today?

As Christians, we often think about the future—our hopes, our plans, and the promise of eternity. But Scripture also reminds us to be faithful with today. Every conversation, every act of kindness, every opportunity to encourage someone, forgive someone, or share God's love matters more than we may ever realize.

It's easy to let worry, disappointment, or discouragement consume our attention. We all face seasons that test our faith. Yet even in those moments, God calls us to keep living with hope because our story doesn't end here.

The promise of eternal life changes how we live today.

When we trust that God is with us and that He has prepared something greater than we can imagine, we can approach each day with confidence instead of fear. We become more willing to love generously, serve faithfully, and invest in the people God places in our path.

None of us knows how many days we have. But we do know this: every day is an opportunity to reflect Christ to someone else.

So this week, I encourage you to ask yourself: How can I make today count?

Maybe it's reaching out to someone who needs encouragement. Maybe it's forgiving someone. Maybe it's simply telling a friend or neighbor how God has been faithful in your own life.

Live fully. Love deeply. Trust God completely.

May your life be one that points others to Jesus—not only by what you say, but by the way you live each day.
