Honoring the Saints Who Came Before Us By

by Pastor Krista Price
Week of October 27

Good morning, friends. This is Pastor Krista here at Salem Methodist Church, and as we approach the end of October, my heart turns toward something both sacred and deeply personal — All Saints Sunday.

This week, we take time to remember those who have gone before us — the loved ones, mentors, friends, and faithful members who have left their earthly bodies to rest in the arms of Jesus. As I sit here in the quiet of our church cemetery, surrounded by familiar names etched in stone, I’m reminded of the generations who built this community of faith. Each name tells a story — of love, of service, of prayers whispered and lives well-lived.

Some graves have tall monuments; others are simple and humble. A few have small benches beside them, inviting loved ones to sit and reflect. All are reminders that the Church is more than just those of us gathered today — it is a living thread connecting the past, present, and future through the grace of God.

As we prepare for worship this Sunday, I invite you to reflect on the saints in your own life — the people who shaped your faith, lifted you in prayer, and offered hope when you needed it most. Who are the ones whose faith helped build yours? Maybe it was a parent or grandparent, a friend who never stopped encouraging you, or a teacher who showed you Christ’s love through kindness.

This All Saints Sunday, let’s honor those beautiful souls who gave us direction, comfort, and inspiration. Let’s celebrate their legacy by continuing to live in faith, hope, and love — the same gifts they passed on to us.

And don’t forget — this Sunday, we’ll be gathering together at Salem to worship, remember, and give thanks to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — our God, who continues to walk with us through every season.

🕯️ Join us for All Saints Sunday at Salem Methodist Church.

Bring your memories, your gratitude, and your faith. Together, we’ll honor those who have gone before and celebrate the eternal hope that unites us all.

God bless you, and have a beautiful week.
