Finding God in the Quiet Places

Summer has a way of inviting us to slow down.

For some, that might mean sitting on a porch with a cup of coffee. For others, it could be a walk through a favorite park, time spent in a garden, or a weekend with family. Often, the places that bring us peace are not extravagant or complicated. They are simply spaces where we can breathe deeply, rest, and reconnect with what matters most.

One of those places for many people is the shoreline. There is something timeless about watching waves roll in and listening to the rhythm of the water. The sound is steady, calming, and reassuring. It reminds us that even when life feels busy or uncertain, there are moments when we can pause and simply be present.

As Christians, these moments can also become opportunities to recognize God's presence.

Scripture often uses images of water to remind us of God's care and faithfulness. Standing beside a vast body of water can help us remember just how great God's love truly is. We may be able to see the horizon, but we cannot fully comprehend its size. In much the same way, we can experience God's love every day, yet we will never reach the limits of its depth, width, or abundance.

God's love stretches farther than our worries. It reaches beyond our mistakes. It remains steady through every season of life.

In a world that constantly demands our attention, finding time to rest is not a luxury—it is a necessity. Jesus often stepped away from the crowds to pray, reflect, and spend time with His Father. If even Jesus made room for rest and renewal, perhaps we should too.

This week, I encourage you to seek out your own "happy place." Find a space where you can be still, whether that's by the water, under the shade of a tree, on a walking trail, or in the quiet of your own home. Let it become a place where you can hear God's voice more clearly and remember His presence more deeply.

As you move through the days ahead, may God guide your steps, calm your heart, and fill you with His peace. May you find rest for your soul and be reminded that you are deeply loved by the One who created you.
