Finding Peace in the Quiet Moments
by Pastor Krista Price
Week of November 24
As the holiday season begins to swirl around us — with its calendars, commitments, traditions, and to-do lists — I found myself craving a moment of stillness. So this week, my family and I slipped away from the noise of the city and wandered up to a quiet little corner of nature in Pendleton, Indiana.
There, surrounded by bare branches, cool autumn air, and the gentle rhythm of creation, we rediscovered something we all need a little more of this time of year: peace.
In between our conversations and our laughter, I felt the presence of God woven into that peaceful place. It reminded me how often God meets us when we simply stop long enough to notice — in the hush of the woods, the crunch of leaves, the warmth of the people we love beside us.
As we step into Thanksgiving and prepare our hearts for the season of Advent — for the coming of Christ — I want to offer you the same invitation that whispered to me among the trees:
Make room for peace.
Before the cooking begins…
Before the family gatherings…
Before the decorations come out of their boxes…
Before Advent lights its first candle…
Take even a few quiet moments to breathe deeply and rest in the peace of Jesus. Let that peace settle into your heart. Let it guide you through the coming days. Let it be the grounding center of a season that can otherwise sweep us away.
My prayer for you this week — and throughout the Advent season — is that you find time with family, with friends, and with God. May Christ’s peace shape your days, fill your home, and remind you of the hope that is on its way.
God bless you, and may your Thanksgiving be filled with gratitude, warmth, and gentle joy.
Amen.
